History of Our Company
Readymix (W.I.) Limited was founded in 1959 by Readymix Concrete U.K., the largest concrete producing company in the world at that time. The company was then called Trinidad Readymix Concrete Company Limited. Operations began at Laventille and the company’s geographic expansion started in 1962 when batching plants were opened in Guanapo and Harmony Hall.
In 1962 the company also began its sand and gravel operations at Melajo, Valencia from where it started supplying its plants and other customers with aggregate.
In 1979, Readymix (U.K.) Company divested 60% of its shareholdings in the company. In 1983 the company became a publicly owned institution and was incorporated as Readymix (W.I.) Limited.
In 1993 Pelinja Holdings purchased the majority shareholding and managed the company until November 1995, when Trinidad Cement Limited bought controlling interest.
Readymix (W.I.) Limited has been a member of the T.C.L. Group of Companies since that time. It now stands as the single largest producer of pre-mixed concrete in Trinidad and Tobago and the English-speaking Caribbean.
The company now boasts of an extensive network of concrete plants throughout Trinidad and Tobago and has even expanded its operations to other regional markets, such as Barbados.
Premix and Precast Concrete Incorporated (PPCI), situated in Barbados is the latest venture in the history of Readymix (W.I.) Limited. Readymix (W.I.) Limited has acquired 60% equity in the premixed concrete company, which is also owned by Black Bess Quarry Limited (40%).
