The Management Team

Mr. Manan Deo is currently the General Manager of Readymix (West Indies) Limited, and its subsidiaries, Island Concrete Products N.V., located in St. Maarten and Premix and Precast Concrete Inc., located in Barbados. Mr. Deo joined the TCL Group in 1995 as Marketing Manager of the Packaging Companies. In 1998, he was appointed General Manager of TCL Packaging Ltd, and TCL Ponsa Manufacturing Ltd, a position which he held until his appointment as General Manager, RML in July 2005.

Mr. Deo holds a BSc in Management Studies from UWI, and EMBA (Distinction) from the UWI-Institute of Business. He is fluent in Spanish, and was very instrumental in establishing the Packaging Companies presence in the Latin American countries, especially Cuba and Venezuela.

Mr. Dexter East currently holds the position of Operations Manager where he bears overall responsibility for RML’s quarry operations, production of concrete, maintenance of plant and machinery, and planning and implementation of new projects. Mr. Dexter East joined the TCL Group of Companies in 1991, where he spent 12 years in the cement industry. In 2003, while functioning as a Process Engineer, he was promoted to Operations Manager at TCL Packaging Ltd, a position which he held for 3 years.

Mr. East is an honours graduate from the University of the West Indies, with a BSc degree in Chemical Engineering, and also holds an International MBA in Finance from UWI Institute of Business.

Mrs. Reuben-Theodore joined Readymix (West Indies) Limited in September, 2006. In the capacity of Corporate Services Manager, she heads Readymix Finance and Materials Department, and is also responsible for Corporate Services in both the St. Maarten and Barbados subsidiaries. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge, with over ten years experience in the auditing and finance fields.

Mrs. Reuben-Theodore is a Certified Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago.

In February 2008, Mr. Learie Hinds was appointed Human Resource Manager of Readymix (West Indies) and its subsidiaries in St. Maarten and Barbados.

Mr. Hinds has thirty (30) years of experience in all areas of Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations, in public and private enterprises of services, manufacturing and hospitality industries.

Mr. Gerard Torres joined the company in November 2005 as Marketing Manager. He is responsible for achieving Readymix‘s sales targets and marketing its products and services. He brings with him, years of Marketing experience, both at a consultant and managerial level in both the manufacturing and petrochemical industries.

Mr. Torres has a Diploma in Export Management and an Advanced Certificate in Overseas Trade, and is currently pursuing a Masters in Business Administration.

John Cardenas joined RML in January 2003 as Marketing Manager, with responsibility for the sales and Marketing department. In January 2005, he took up a 4-year assignment in Barbados as Plant Manager of Premix & Precast Concrete Inc., responsible for the day to day operations of the company. Mr. Cardenas returned to Trinidad in January 2009, as RML’s Special Projects Manager.

He has over fifteen years experience at the management level and is the holder of a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) degree majoring in Pure & Applied Physics and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies from the University of the West Indies. He also completed courses in Marketing, Organisational Behaviour Management, Accounting, and Financial Management from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.

Gordon Richards joined RML in April 2001 as the Quarry Manager and was promoted in July, 2007. In this capacity, he is responsible for the production and supply of quality sand and gravel to all the RML concrete plants in Trinidad, under the regulations specified by the EMA. Mr. Richards has over 18 years experience in the Bauxite Mining Industry in Guyana and holds a Masters Degree in Mining Engineering from the Technical University Mining Academy in Freiberg, Germany.

Austin Rodriguez joined RML in February 2000 as the Technical Services Officer, and was promoted to Technical Services Manager in July 2007. He is in charge of the Technical Services Department, with responsibility for designing concrete mixes and ensuring the quality of RML’s products, while maintaining the ISO certification of the Company’s Quality Management System.

Mr. Rodriquez is an honours graduate from the University of the West Indies, with a BSc in Civil Engineering. He has over 30 years experience in the construction industry and holds Technical Diplomas in Mechanical and Construction Engineering.

Malcolm Smith joined Premix & Precast Concrete Inc. in Barbados in September 2003, working as a consultant in the Accounts department. In November 2006, he was appointed Marketing & Administration Manager, responsible for the sales, office operations and accounting functions of the company. In January 2009, Mr. Smith was appointed Plant Manager of PPCI.

He has over 20 years experience in senior management positions in major banking and insurance companies in Barbados and within the Caribbean region.  A Management Accountant by profession and honours graduate of the UWI, BSC. in Accounting, Mr. Smith is also a certified stock broker and was a key player in the early development of the local Securities Exchange in Barbados.

Jaris Liburd is the Plant Manager of Island Concrete Products N.V. St. Maarten. He holds a B.Sc degree in Hospitality and Hotel Management from Stamford Hill University (London) and an Engineering Operation Executive certificate (CEOE) from the Educational Institute of American Hotel and Motel Association. He joined the Group in August 2006 and brought with him over 17 years’ of management experience mainly in Hospitality Maintenance and Collective Bargaining.
