Flowing Concrete
The term “flowing concrete” is generally used to describe a concrete that is highly plastic with a slump of over 200 mm. (8 ins.).
A concrete designed using a “Superplasticising admixture such as “CONPLAST 423”, will produce a flowing concrete that is virtually self leveling and self compacting, but at the same time is highly cohesive and free from segregation.
This flowing concrete will normally have the same or similar cement and water contents as a concrete with only 50 mm. (2 ins.) slump, but will not suffer the loss in strength normally associated with the addition of water to increase workability. The many advantages of superplasticised concrete are:
Increased workability resulting in:- a. reduced placing times b. reduced labour costs c. reduced pump and pump line wear and friction.
